Geography
Ancient Assyria was north of Mesopotamia and takes up four countries. It extends west to the Euphrates river; north to Harran, Edessa, Diyarbakir, and Lake Van; in Iran it extends to about 100 miles south of Kirkuk. The Tigris and Euphrates River are the two main rivers, along with the Upper and Lower Zab Rivers.
